Terms of Use
Last updated:
These terms apply to the WiCam mobile app and the account service behind it. By signing in to the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
The service
WiCam is an app for Android and iPhone that connects to compatible Wi-Fi security cameras so you can watch the live picture, move the camera, listen and talk, browse recordings held on the camera’s memory card, and configure the camera’s detection settings.
Two things are worth being explicit about, because they shape what you can expect:
- We are not a recording service. Your footage is stored on the camera’s own memory card, not by us. If the card is removed, wiped, damaged or full, that footage is gone and we cannot recover it.
- WiCam is not a monitored alarm system. No one is watching on your behalf. Alerts are delivered to your phone on a best-effort basis and depend on your camera’s power, your internet connection, your phone’s notification settings, and the push services of Google and Apple. Do not rely on WiCam as the only safeguard for anything where a missed alert would be serious.
Your account
You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. You are responsible for the phone number on the account and for the devices signed in to it. If you lose a phone, contact support.
One camera belongs to one account at a time. When a camera is transferred to another account, its remaining warranty goes with it.
Using the app lawfully
You are responsible for how you point your camera and what you do with the footage. In particular, you agree:
- Not to use a camera to watch anyone who has not consented and who would reasonably expect privacy — a bathroom, a bedroom that is not yours, a neighbour’s property, or a workplace where recording is not permitted.
- To comply with the laws that apply to you on recording video and audio. In many places recording audio has stricter rules than recording video.
- Not to use the app to harass, stalk or intimidate anyone.
- Not to attempt to access cameras or accounts that are not yours, interfere with the service, or work around its security.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. If we deactivate your account, the app will show you the reason.
Warranty on the camera
A camera registered in the app carries a hardware warranty of twelve months from the date it is first registered, unless we state otherwise for a particular model or batch. The warranty travels with the camera, not with you: if you pass the camera on, the new owner continues the remaining period.
Third-party services
The app relies on services we do not control: Google and Apple for push notifications and app distribution. Their availability is not something we can guarantee.
Ending it
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from Settings, then Delete account, or from the account deletion page. Deletion is not reversible.
We may end your access if you materially breach these terms, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice where we can.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and we will tell you in the app where a change materially affects you. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
